PERSONAL LOCATOR BEACON

Picture this scenario....one of your crew falls over board…what if they were unconscious…what if it was at night…how will you know they had fallen overboard… how will you find them…??? Sea Marshall® ‘SOS’ Maritime Survivor Locating Devices give immediate MOB Alarm and Direction of MOB relative to ships head. No satellites, No time delays, It just does the Job!

The Sea Marshall PLB8-LR BEACON WITH FLASHING ANTENNA is worn by an individual when at sea, either on board a vessel/craft or when taking part in sub aqua activities, etc

In the event of a man overboard situation, the PLB will self activate 20 seconds after immersion. The PLB then relays a signal which is picked up by an onboard receiver to enable the crew to initiate recovery of the MOB or, if necessary, alert Search & Rescue teams to assist.

The SAR organisations can then track the PLB signal with their own equipment. The PLB signal is set to 121.5MHz which is the internationally recognised homing frequency. All Search & Rescue vehicles throughout the world are fitted with equipment to monitor and track this signal.

1. Crewman wearing PLB8-LR ‘SOS’ AU/Personal Locator Beacon falls overboard.
2. AU/Personal Locator Beacon automatically activates after 20 second immersion.
3. AU/Personal Locator Beacon transmits ‘SOS’ homing radio (& SOS light) signal on 121.5 MHz.
4. a) Self Managed Rescue. Base Unit on boat receives SOS signal from AU/Personal Locator Beacon on MOB, Man Over Board Alarm auto activates, Boat Tracks SOS Homing Signal using Base Units MOB Locating Function (SARfinder® 1003), MOB is rescued.
   b) Extra Assistance Required. Local SAR are radioed and requested to recover Man Over Board. SAR vehicles track 121.5 MHz Personal Locator Beacon Homing Signal using own, standard issue, onboard Radio Direction Finder, MOB is rescued.
